CBG and THC at their lowest: what you need to know (saliva tests included)

In short: CBG is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid found in hemp and is not classified as a narcotic. A flower rich in CBG and very low in THC, such as our White Rhino (14% CBG, 0.12% THC), is the best choice if you want to consume as little THC as possible. But no hemp product can guarantee a negative saliva test: here’s why.
What is CBG?
Cannabigerol (CBG) is often called the “mother molecule” of cannabinoids. The plant uses its acidic form, CBGA, to produce THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids. In most varieties, very little of it remains at harvest. CBG-rich flowers come from genetics bred to preserve it.
What CBG is not
CBG does not get you high and is not classified as a narcotic in France. As with CBD, a CBG flower is legal if it comes from authorized hemp varieties and contains less than 0.3% THC. For the full picture, read our article Is CBD legal in France?.
Why check the THC level first
The legal limit is 0.3% THC. White Rhino tests at 0.12%, less than half that threshold. If your goal is to minimize the amount of THC you consume, this is the first figure to check, before the CBD or CBG levels.
Always ask for the batch’s certificate of analysis: that’s what proves the figures. If you don’t know how to read it, we’ve created a guide: CBD certificate of analysis: how to read it in 5 points.
What about saliva tests?
The saliva tests used during roadside checks look for THC, not CBD or CBG. With a flower containing 0.12% THC, the amount of THC is very low. But no one can guarantee a negative result: it depends on how much you consume, how you consume it (smoking leaves traces in the mouth), how much time has passed before the test, and the sensitivity of the test.
And the rule is strict: in France, driving after consuming a product containing THC is an offense as soon as THC is detected, regardless of the amount, even if the product is legal CBD. The Court of Cassation confirmed this in 2023.
Our advice: do not consume before getting behind the wheel. A low-THC flower reduces your exposure to THC, but it does not protect you from testing positive.
